At a networking event last year, I was met with a blank expression when I explained that I was launching a Virtual Personal Assistant business in Luxembourg.

I soon realised that the concept of a VA was not well known in the Grand Duchy and that I had my work cut out to explain the concept. However, I saw this as an exciting challenge and also a great opportunity to bring this new service to the small business owners of Luxembourg and little by little I have been spreading the word. There is only so much you can explain face to face at an event though. No matter how good your pitch, eyes soon start to glaze over, or worse still an escape is made to the bar! So, in order to explain in a little more detail, the many advantages of outsourcing to a Virtual Personal Assistant, I decided to make this the topic of my next blog post. If you are a Coach, Consultant or Small Business Owner ready to take your business to the next level, then read on.

Here are 7 reasons why you should consider hiring a Virtual Assistant:

1) Free up your Time & Focus on what you do Best

There are only 24 hours in the day! That will never change. In every business, there are tasks that take up far too much of our time, or that we don’t enjoy doing or are not very good at. It might be scheduling appointments, managing your inbox, arranging a workshop or organizing your next trip. You know you should write that new blog post, or attend more networking events, but your days just seem to disappear. Delegating all those non-value adding tasks (but which still need to be done) to your VA, frees you up to concentrate on the important stuff! Wouldn’t it be nice to find yourself with free time to work on your goals and take your business forward, or perhaps simply spend more time with your family or friends?

2) Bringing New Skills & Experience to your Business

A VA usually has several years of PA/EA experience at senior management level behind them (this one does!) and can bring with them many skills and lots of experience. As they get to know you and your business, they will soon be suggesting additional ways in which they can support you. It might be helping you with your social media or developing your marketing strategy. They can suggest new software to improve or streamline processes and productivity. They also have a network of contacts, so can source and/or bring in others with specialist skills if required and manage this process for you too.

3) Support

It can be lonely being a solopreneur! A Virtual Assistant understands your challenges and as your working relationship develops, they can be a fresh pair of eyes, or a sounding board for new ideas, or simply a bit of moral support during the tougher times.

4) Flexibility

You can hire a VA on an ad hoc basis (pay as you go!) to assist with a one-off task or project, or on a regular basis, ie a few hours per month, depending on what your business needs are. You can start off small and increase the support as your business grows and as your working relationship with your Virtual Assistant develops. It’s totally flexible and designed to fit around your business.

5) Cost Effective

You only pay for your Virtual Assistant’s time when they are actually doing your work, recorded to the minute. Therefore, you are not paying for their lunch breaks, or when they take a personal call. You don’t have to recruit or set up a payroll. No holiday pay, sick pay, or social security costs to consider either.

6) Reliability/Trustworthiness

Your VA is also a small business owner and the success of their business is totally dependent on positive feedback and referrals from satisfied clients. They, therefore, have a strong vested interest in seeing your business succeed. However, there will be a contract in place, with terms and conditions, to cover both parties. You can rest assured that confidential details of your business or private affairs are in safe hands.

7) Availability

As your VA will work remotely from their home office, they won’t get under your feet and there is no need to find them a desk. However, they are only a phone call or email away when you need their help. In no time at all, they will become your right hand and you will wonder how you ever managed without your trusty VA! 7 Reasons to Hire a Virtual Assistant

These are just 7 reasons why you should consider hiring a Virtual Assistant, there are many more.

However, I hope that these will help you see the possibilities that working with a good VA can bring to your business and how they can help you achieve your business goals and take your business to the next level and beyond.
